Natalie, You're 7

My Sweet Natalie,

Today you turn 7, which hardly seems possible. You're my baby, my first, my amazing daughter who showed me I could love more than I ever dreamed. You took our breath away with your sweet smiles, gentle snuggles and little coos.

Each year, you've left us in wonder at how much you've changed. This year is no exception. As a big first-grader, you're learning to be more independent, learning to read and building new friendships. Sometimes wildly brave and daring, other times hesitant and reflective, you keep us wondering what you'll be doing next.  You're strong, independent, tenderhearted, determined, driven and fun. One minute you're in giggles on the couch and the next you're reading to me from a book. You can light up a room with your smile and compassion for others. Your love for Jesus strengthens my own faith in Him.

This year, we've loved watching you discover your talent and passion for ballet, bringing me to tears during your first dance recital. You worked so hard practicing your steps, grew in confidence and helped those around you. We've also loved watching you try so many other activities, from track to swimming, singing and dancing on stage, and more. You're always ready to jump in and try something, a characteristic that will open up so many doors for you in the future.

The future.

I can see down the road, Natalie, to the beautiful young woman you are becoming. I'm so proud.

And so lucky.

I love you, Natalie Jo. Oh, how I love you.

Mama
