We’re members of our local zoo, where we helped hand-raise a little of wolf pups, and you can usually find us there for an hour or two most weekends. We recently took trips to Watertown, S.D., and Bismarck, N.D., and ended up at the zoos there as well. Sometimes, a zoo is really the only attraction in a town. Other times it’s the main reason we travel there.
Both Jason and I are huge animal lovers, always interested in learning more about different species and if there’s anything we can do to help protect them. We also feel it’s important to pass that trait onto our children, teaching them that animals are a gift from God that we’re responsible for tending. And, heck, they’re also pretty fun to watch!
The kids don’t get tired of touring the zoos, either. Gavin can spot a baby monkey in a huge exhibit in a flash, and Natalie loves feeding goats and ducks. It’s excuse to get outdoors with our kids, without distractions, and enjoy light conversation as we stroll through beautifully landscaped grounds. It’s education, relaxation, sunshine and family time all wrapped up together.
Where to next?
