Welcome, Blossom

We left Saturday morning for a day at an organic farm with a bag stuffed with sunscreen, sani-wipes, a notebook and sunglasses.

We came home with a cat.

Because, obviously, three pets aren't enough for our family.

Really, it's not my fault. I'm a very sensible person, quick to reason out a situation. I wasn't looking for another cat.

Then I spent seven solid hours looking at this:

I don't know whose face was more convincing.

Add to that the ease of working another cat into our household - we already have the supplies, Cloudy could use some feline company and really, who's even going to notice another animal in all of the chaos - and I really didn't have much for a counter argument.

At the end of the day, we scooped up the kitten, thanked the farm family who raised her and gave her to us, and drove her home. On the way, we settled on Blossom, a floral name to reflect her farm roots. (Note: This is the first pet we've actually had the pleasure of naming. We never had the heart to change our adopted pets' names - Sacci, Popeye and Cloudy. Who the heck names a dog Popeye?)

In the following days, Blossom quickly settled herself in. She uses the litter box faithfully, doesn't mind sleeping in a cozy box in the bathroom at night, naps with Natalie during the day and holds her ground when the dogs and Cloudy protest her arrival. We're running quite the spectrum with pet interactions. Popeye is close to reaching an understanding with Blossom. Cloudy currently hates us all and lets us know every five minutes. Sacci's just hyper excited and too much love for Blossom.

It will work out though. I'm confident.

I'm also more than a little smitten.

The photo of Natalie is so sweet! I can see why it was hard to resist bringing Blossom home. Enjoy your new pet!
