Getting to Know 'Our' Farm

Gavin and I had the pleasure of spending 2.5 hours at Kragnes Family Farms this morning. Run by Ben and Tyne, the farm is in it's second year as a local, organic CSA and we're excited to one of its members. In addition to 22 weeks of fresh, organic produce, we'll be enjoying farm events like today's - a chance to meet the farmers, tour the farm, plant some seeds and even harvest a few items.

We had a wonderful morning. Only a few people were able attend, which meant extra time to ask questions and get involved. Gavin had the best time of all I think. He dug in the dirt, tasted plants, munched on crackers, played with the dog and even helped with weeding.

We also helped plant asparagus seeds which will go in their starting shed for a couple months and brought home a pack of six to add to our own backyard.

Ben and Tyne were wonderful, very knowledgeable and humble, making us all feel at home. They're excited to see their CSA operation grow and reach more families in our community.

If you're interested in signing up for a half or whole share, e-mail Tyne. They have about 20 spots left and she'll be happy to hear from you.
