Booga Bag

Continuing with my felted purse craze, I recently finished up a bag I started back in December. I found the Booga Bag pattern online and loved it's unique and simplistic design. It's the first pattern I've dug up on my own and successfully completed, which also feels like an accomplishment.

The bag came together very easily and I loved watching the stripes work themselves out as the bag grew. I created it with my mother-in-law in mind, picking colors to match her favorite outfits.

Unfortunately, it didn't felt up very well. Talking to a yarn shop employee it sounds like I would have been better off double-stranding the bag for a tighter gauge and a thicker felt. As it is now, I can still see most of my stitches when up close. I was told lining the bag with a firm material would correct the problem, but being that I'm not about to drag out my dusty sewing machine anytime soon I bailed on the suggestion, crossed my fingers and just assembled the bag as is.

I'm glad I did.

It's a cutie and no one will even notice my mistakes. (I hope.)
