My kids are hungry. All of the time. Starving. Never full.
"I hungee," Gavin moans, doubled over. "My tummy hurt."
"I just fed you," I'll counter, looking at the clock. Yep. Seven whole minutes have gone by since lunch. Seven.
It's not that they don't eat decent meals and spend their time snacking. They pack in a sandwich, fruit, some veggies and a glass of milk for lunch. Or two small bowls of cereal and fruit for breakfast. Or chicken, sweet potatoes, broccoli and peaches for dinner.
I make sure they have protein, like yogurt, with crackers or fruit for snack. They drink plenty of water too.
Geez, it's like feeding a pregnant woman.
Yet, they're still always hungry and begging for food.
It's become such an issue that I actually sat down at the computer tonight and created a meal schedule. Yes. A schedule. A poster that lists the times the kitchen will be open and a rule that food will rarely be served outside of those times.
Unfortunately, they can't read. But I can post the schedule as an official document and point to it whenever they throw themselves to the floor in one of their hunger fits.
"See, Mommy can't feed you yet," I'll say matter of factly, pointing to the schedule. "It's only 9:41 a.m., 11 minutes after you just had snack."
Anyone else have hungry beasts for children? Suggestions are welcome.

We have the opposite problem--Miles NEVER wants to eat. EVER. Unless it's cookies, cake or fruit snacks :-)
Eddie is never hungry at meal times. But he's STARVING 10 minutes after meal times -- for cookies, cake, or fruit snacks (granola bars, too!) I would give my right arm to have as good of eaters as you do, Amanda. Although I know how frustrating the whining for food is.
