Jason surprised me with an overnight trip North for a Valentine's getaway. His parents watched the kids and dogs while we enjoyed some time together, just the two of us. It's amazing how precious that time feels when we're usually so busy with the kids. They are definitely the center of our lives, but this weekend we realized how much just 24 hours alone can help bring our marriage back in focus as well. It's easy to fall into the routines of work, kids, errands, chores and life, and not have much energy or time left over for each other afterward. We felt like young sweethearts again this weekend, gazing into each other's eyes at dinner, laughing and cheering at the hockey game, holding hands strolling through the mall. Awww...
Oh, and did I mention the hockey game? It had been a while since I let my inner hockey fan out. Man, that felt good! Go Sioux!!

What a wonderful surprise! I'm happy you had a nice getaway together. 24 hours really does make a difference, doesn't it?
