Big End to Soccer

In the perfect ending to Gavin's first soccer season, he scored his first goal during a game. I wish I had his reaction on video. (I was too busy cheering to remember the camera.) Oh, how he jumped and hollered. He fist-pumped the air, patted his buddies on the back, ran around the field smiling and yelling. I've never, ever seen him that happy.

Several weeks later, he still tells everybody about his goal.

It was a great way to wrap up soccer for the summer. I'm so thankful for this experience for Gavin. Honestly, going into it I wasn't sure how I felt about the commitment of two evenings a week when he is so little, but it was so well balanced and designed for young kids that it was a great fit. Gavin had such a good time learning about soccer, meeting new friends, learning to play as a team and playing actual games.

I'll miss the games and practices too.

I already do.
