Update: Skip the glue dots and get out your glue gun for this project. You'll thank me.
I resisted creating a Pinterest account for more than a year because I didn't want to get sucked into another addictive form of social media. It was a mistake. This site is SO helpful.
Enter my first Pinterest-inspired project: the Lego Travel Box.
Simply amazing.
(Apparently this is the Pinterest way - to show you all of the awesome things you should have thought of on your own. Only, you didn't.)
I made the boxes today, in just a few minutes. We have a long car trip coming up and I have a hunch this will keep our little Lego-lovers busy. Yes, we'll lose pieces in the depths of the van, but who cares? It will buy us some peaceful car minutes.
Here's the skinny:
1. Buy a wooden pencil box at a craft store. (I found mine downstairs in the bin of random stuff the kids have made at Home Depot and Lowe's kids workshops. Sweet!)
2. Let the kids decorate it with paint or maker.
3. Use glue dots to adhere a few small Lego bases to the top of the lid. (We may have needed the Dremmel to trim a few pieces. Just saying.)
4. Fill the interior with a stash of blocks, people and accessories.
5. Keep in the car for spontaneous Lego fun!
