teething, crying, crabbiness and the like, we had a wonderful
Thanksgiving weekend as a family. Gavin woke up Thursday after 11
straight hours of sleep with his usual cheerful attitude and it
lasted all weekend long. And I think it rubbed off on the rest of us,
in a good way. We baked cookies, did art projects, put up a handful
of Christmas decorations, took studio photos, visited Santa, shopped
a little, ate an amazing meal with family, unpacked the rest of our
moving boxes, attended a Skateland birthday party and got together
with out-of-town friends. Wow. What a weekend!
And thankfully, both Jason and I feel more relaxed than overwhelmed
at the end of it! I finally felt like we could embrace and enjoy a
relaxing weekend, rather than just trying to survive it! Let's hope
it lasts!
On a related note, watching Natalie and Jason hit the rink at
Skateland this weekend was one of the most memorable events. Jason
(thankfully) skating a few practice rounds first. (For a funny story,
ask him how that went!) Then he took a wobbly Natalie on wheels out
and they slowly made their way around the edge of the rink. As I
played with Gavin and chatted with our birthday party friends, I'd
look up every once in a while to see them skating or sitting on a
little bench relaxing together. He's so good with her, letting her
try things out at her own pace while also challenging her just a
little. And the smiles on their faces said everything.
Being silly with friend Kirna.
