Tiny Theologian

If there was ever a time for me to have a pastor on speed dial, now's the time. Natalie, who's faith in Christ has astounded me since she first insisted on saying table prayers as a small toddler, popped a big question yesterday in the car on the way home from the mall.

"Where's God?" a tiny voice perked up from the back seat.

Jason and I just looked at each other. Blankly.

"Um, He's everywhere, honey," I said.

"In the car?" she asked.

"Oh, yes. In the car, everywhere. He's also in your heart," I said. "Can you feel Jesus in your heart."

"Yes," she said very seriously. "What do I do with Him in my heart?"

(Are you serious?!)

"Well, you feel His love and then treat other people nicely so you show them His love," I said.

"Can I talk to God? How do I talk to Him?" she asked (apparently not getting the memo that you're only allowed three theological questions a day, to give Mommy and Daddy time to properly gather information suitable for two-year-olds.)

"Well, we pray to him and you can just talk to him."

"Can I sing?" she asked.

"Yes, He would like that," I said, upon which she broke out into a rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle and then Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

"Is Jesus clapping?" she asked when she finished.

"Yes, Nattie, Jesus is definitely clapping."
