Natalie and I said goodbye to two dear friends last Thursday, wishing them well on their move across the state.
There's something extra special about a friendship that involves your children as well. When Beth and I first met, we were both in the throes of new motherhood - juggling careers, busy home lives and now two beautiful girls who attended daycare together. We'd visit during noon hours while nursing our babies and later, once the girls no longer needed that time from us, enjoyed long, brisk walks at noon. We shared stories of first steps, first foods, first smiles and vented about sleeping schedules (or lack of), teething and potty training.
Meanwhile, Kirna and Natalie spent their days together in the infant room and later the toddler room - learning baby sign, singing songs, chasing each other, reading books and shoveling in food with both hands. They'd giggle upon seeing each other and couldn't wait until they could next meet up on the weekend for chicken nuggets and DragonLand at the mall.
We miss them already.
