The Happy Song

Natalie sang her first song on Saturday. We were in the car with Grandma and Grandpa on the way to a graduation party in Wahpeton, when all of a sudden she started singing “happy, happy, happy” to herself. She’d never said the word “happy” so it really caught us off guard and we listened closely. Yep, it definitely was “happy, happy, happy.” She smiled and kept singing. We didn’t think much for of it.

Until the next day, when suddenly I thought of the song “If You’re Happy and You Know it.” I had her on the change table getting cleaned up and starting singing the tune. Sure enough, she clapped her hands and stomped her feet right along with me! Since we don’t sing this song much at home I realized it must be from daycare and confirmed my suspicions Monday. It’s one of their favorite songs.

“Happy, Happy, Happy.”
