Sweet Gavin,
When you joined us three years ago, I remember writing how you just slipped into our lives, taking your place, a place that had always been waiting for you. It felt so right, so expected to have you in our arms and our family. You were surrounded in love immediately, more than you could ever imagine.
That first year I snuggled you every chance I could. You loved sleeping tucked in bed with me, waking me with soft grunts when you were hungry or wet. As soon as you were sitting and crawling, you were forever wanting to see what your sister was up to and giving her plenty of reasons to giggle, coo at you and smother you in kisses. Your big blue eyes and dimples captured us.
As as two-year-old, you sought out tackles with dad, tickle attacks with mom, and dance, imaginary play and silly games with Natalie. You dreamed of being a football player, loved to make snowmen and gobbled up books. Your hugs, sweet and goofy kisses, and snuggles melt me every time.
Now, as a big three-year-old, we're beginning to see what an amazing man you're going to grow up to be. Your heart is big and your eyes shine with wonderment at everything around you. You are kind, generous and incredibly funny. You put together your own jokes, point out ridiculous situations and recently started letting subtle chuckles escape your lips, hardly seeming to notice. Your laid-back, mellow personality is giving way to more showings of independence and strong-will. You're growing up, eager to start preschool this year and start even more exploring on your own. You're amazing Gavin - a wonderful, bright and tender boy.
We love you so much Gavin. To the moon and back again. Again and again.
Happy third birthday, Boo.
