Fave Friday: Shutterfy Holiday Cards

Up front: I am shamelessly accepting 50 free holiday cards from Shutterfly for this post. See details below.

Opening Christmas cards and letters is one of my favorite traditions each holiday season. I love reading what friends and family have to share, as well as see the latest photos. Even with e-mail and Facebook, it's still exciting to see these updates in print and as the pile grows in the container on my kitchen counter, it makes me smile.

Jason and I have sent cards (and sometimes letters) since we were first married, missing only a year or two. (We had two January babies. Enough said.) Last year we tried something different, sending a video through Animoto. I loved trying something new - and being a little green - but my heart is still with cards.

For the third year, we'll be using Shutterfly for our Christmas cards. They have a huge selection of cards - in photo and stationery formats. We've used the standard glossy photo cards in the past and were thrilled with them. After we moved to our new home, we featured three photos of the kids in front of the house, adding a line at the bottom of the card with our new address. The year before, we used a black and white photo of the three of us dancing at a wedding - me in my favorite maternity dress.

The cards are very easy to create with photos I already had uploaded to Shutterfly. (I upload all of my photos for printing, as well as making books and calendars.) They are also very affordable, which is especially important during the Christmas season. And the quality is outstanding. In fact, I haven't trusted my photos with any other online photo company. I've tried others in the past, but I'm very picky about the quality and color of my photos. Those standards also apply to holiday cards.

I've already started playing around with a few of this year's designs and found many that I like, especially the 5x5 stationery cards.

Now, if I could just capture just the right photo of my kids in their holiday clothes.

If I hadn't already often declared my love for Shutterfly - on my blog, on Facebook, in person - I would never have written this post for compensation. But since I've been praising the company and its products for years for free, I'm giving Shutterfly another shout out today. And hey, if you're a blogger and looking to score a free set of holiday cards for yourself, you can do so here. Thanks Jen at Momalom for the tip.
