Future Doctor

Always the planner, Natalie asked on the way home from daycare today when she could go to college. I told her in 15 years she could move away and go to school. I then asked what she wanted to be when she grew up.

Silence.

So I helped out, throwing out some suggestions, like doctor, nurse, lawyer, teacher, writer, computer programmer, etc.

“A doctor,” she says.

“Wow! That’s great, Natalie. What kind of doctor would you like to be?” I ask.

“A pink one,” she says.

“Ask Gavin what he wants to be,” I say, laughing.

“Hey, Gavin. Do you want to be a green doctor or an orange doctor?” she asks very seriously.

“Dah,” he says.

Yeah, I’d have to agree.
