Bismarck or Bust

We spent the weekend in Bismarck, a girls only (with the exception of Jack and Gavin) getaway to catch up and enjoy some time together. Nikki, Geri and I spent two days with the kids,
checking out the zoo, swimming at the hotel, playing at a park and gabbing when the kids went to sleep. It was so energizing to have that time together, though juggling the two kids through meals and moments of chaos proved typically challenging. It seems like a no brainer, but traveling with two really is so much harder than with one! And I still had my sister there to help keep the peace or take Natalie on one of dozens of bathroom trips. I continued to be amazed
by single moms. I don't know how they do it!

We also had the chance to meet up with our friends Beth and Kirna. Natalie completely picked up where she'd left off in her friendship with Kirna, spotting her in the restaurant, yelling out her name and running ahead for a big hug. They chatted through dinner, got a serious case of the sillies and kept right on going through swimming later that evening. I loved watching them play together.

We'll get Bismarck on the calendar for next year too. It's now a summer tradition.

You are so brave to travel alone with two. I have a hard time right now being home alone with two. Oh two kids are so labor intensive. I had no idea. I suppose once the little one starts being a bit more predictable life will get a wee bit easier. Of course then she'll start moving and I'll have two going in opposite directions. Shudder. Anyway your kids are adorable and your trip sounds like it was a great time.

Oh, no. No solo traveling by me! My sister traveled with us and was a HUGE help with the kids all weekend. And both kids actually slept quite a bit in the car, unlike Natalie's 6.5 hour drive to the lakes without a minute of sleeping.
